La experiencia del cuerpo entre el ser occidental (de raíz española en el caso de Chile) y el ser autóctono (selk'nam, mapuche, aymara, etc) presenta la problemática esencial de la visualidad latinoamericana, una concepción dividida y fragmentada entre dos culturas totalmente opuestas, la división metafísica entre lo civilizado y la barbarie, lo uno y lo otro, el progreso y retroceso, quiso ser materializado en dos autorretratos pues resume la diferencia de los dos mundos: el nuevo y el viejo, de una mujer nacida en Chile, mestiza y desplazada.

The body language between the european (Spanish in Chile) and natives (Selk'nam, Mapuche, Aymara, etc.) is the main problem of Latin American visuality, a divided and fragmented conception between two completely opposite cultures, the metaphysical division between the civilized and the barbaric, the one and the other, the progress and regress, would be materialized in two self-portraits as summarizes the difference of both worlds: the new and the old, of a woman born in Chile, half-native, half-european and displaced.
